Helping you, help your little one shine.

Blacksmith Pediatric Speech Therapy is a small speech practice specializing in therapy for young children, typically under the age of five in the greater Salt Lake County area.

We value relationship-based learning by connecting with your child (and you!) first and respecting each child’s unique way of learning, thinking, playing and speaking.

We are neurodivergent-friendly and celebrate children with unique nuerotypes; we view autism as a different way of being human rather than a deficit or disorder. Valuing the differences of each individual child is very important to us.

Our goal in speech therapy is for all children to learn new skills in fun, meaningful ways with the people who are most important to them. We work together to plan small, but intentional changes at home that make a powerful impact on your child’s learning and development.

Welcome!

Does my child need speech therapy services?

Here’s how we help you, help your child.

Hands-on

Unlike clinic or school based therapy, opportunity is present at home to achieve hands-on practice in your natural environment, with activities, toys, and routines that are meaningful to you and your child. With a parent coaching approach, you know the why, what, how, and where to support your child’s speech and language skills at home.

Parents as Equal Partners

As a service provider, we prioritize relationships with families built on mutual trust, open communication, respect, honesty and an understanding that families need to feel connected and comfortable with their child’s therapist from the start.

Specific to You

No judgment or mom shame here. We meet each family where they are in their journey to support and understand their child’s unique difference and celebrate their strengths. We are sensitive and responsive to your concerns and create therapy plans that reflect your preferences and learning style.

Fellow Parent.

An understanding that you want the best for your child just as I do for mine. We work together to create a treatment plan that represents your whole child: their strengths, unique interests, and personality

  • I set the foundation for success by discussing expectations for progress and the role of parents during therapy.

  • Hard conversations are important. If we observe differences or unique traits that could indicate neurodiversity we will discuss this with you and recommend next steps such as screeners. We also actively provide resources in our community and referrals to other professionals when needed. Having early conversations leads to access to resources which supports positive outcomes.

  • I understand that being a parent is tough. Sometimes (or often) our mental and physical capacity is depleted. I meet you where your at, creating home plans that are manageable for busy parent lives.

Messy home, toys everywhere…I get it! Caregiver judgement is nonexistent here! (Photo of my child setting up for “races”).
